Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

It is his maiden title after the Rome competition and first on a hard court after spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
